What: The artefact outlines the policy which staff follow in order to support student wellbeing and learning needs at Chatswood Public School. When: The policy was updated in 2017 to meet the changing needs of CPS students and staff. How and Why: The changes in structure and procedures played an integral part in enhancing the wellbeing of students affecting areas such as the process of referral forms, moving to online referral forms, whole school student welfare programs, Learning and Support Teachers and stage representatives. The policy also includes the documentation of assessments both academic and wellbeing from internal and external sources.

The Significant Impact

The updated policy reflects the growing nature of Chatswood Public School. It was recognised that stage representatives were necessary to be a main point of contact for staff,  assisting effective communication. Also, moving referrals to the online system allows documentation to be centrally located with far greater and ongoing accessibility to all parties.  Changes made have been pivotal to the effective running of the Learning and Support Team, ensuring a quicker and more thorough response to the needs of the students. Counsellor referral forms to be on hard copy as required by the department.

Management Practices and Processes - Sustaining and Growing

Updating of the LaST policy complies with upkeep of management practices and processes. Our policy update was notified to staff at a whole school meeting and reinforced at stage meetings by the stage representative. An electronic copy was emailed and placed on Sentral  for all to access.
