The artefacts included demonstrate the use of internal surveys to gauge honest and open feedback from staff. When: Internal Surveys conducted between 2016 and 2017 include the Quality Teaching Rounds, Literacy and Staff Welfare. How: Survey Monkey was incorporated as an unbiased anonymous tool to conduct the internal surveys. What: The QTR Internal Survey provided useful feedback to continue and improve QTR in 2017. The Teacher Literature Internal Survey 2016 gauged staff’s self-efficacy attitudes in teaching different aspects of NSW English Syllabus in relation to content areas, and current teaching practises undertaken. A survey for Staff Welfare was conducted to solicit and address feedback on support of staff within the school community. Why: The results were analysed in order to ascertain how well certain areas of school environment and professional development are performing and where some areas are in need of further development.

The Significant Impact

The QTR survey provided overwhelming positive results with over 90% of staff who participated in 2016 expressed interested in continuing the rounds in 2017 and over 80% of all staff members expressed an interest in participating in the rounds in 2017. This lead to two professional development Twilight sessions held with the North harbour Learning community. Social activities were put into place to increase staff morale and Literacy programs were analysed more closely to improve planning and practice.

Learning Culture - Excelling

Curriculum and Learning - Sustaining  and Growing

Student Performance Measure - Sustaining  and Growing

There are two major aspects to achieving this at Chatswood Public School, the first is the use of the Staff Welfare Survey to create a cohesive and communicative school environment by focussing on the positive wellbeing of staff members at Chatswood Public School; a positive staff will impact on the learning of students. Secondly, QTR has enabled professional dialogue to be generated about classroom teaching practise.

Teaching Element

Collaborative practice - Sustaining and Growing

Professional standards  - Sustaining and Growing

Effective classroom practices is evident in the way that the staff have acknowledged professional standards required, and have further planned for ongoing success implementing good literacy practice, classroom observation and professional learning evaluations.

Leading Element

Leadership - Sustaining and Growing

After a highly successful QTR in 2016 a twilight session was initiated in 2017. Similarly a literacy focus for Stage teacher meetings in 2017 has been implemented after the Teacher Literacy Survey 2016 was discussed by the Literacy Committee.
