PLAN Data
Artefact 1
Annotation

When: Chatswood Public School uses PLAN (Planning Literacy and Numeracy) software twice a year to plot all students on the literacy and numeracy continuums. Why: Plan is designed to support the teaching and learning cycle. It promotes elements from all dimensions of the Quality Teaching Framework. What and How: All teachers from Stage One to Stage Three use PLAN software at the end of Term 2 and Term 4 to plot their students on the continuums. They use the data to inform their teaching and ensure there is a smooth transition academically from year to year. Early Stage One teachers administer and record Best Start at the beginning of each year and plot their students each Term using PLAN software.
The Significant Impact
The use of PLAN software promotes elements from all dimensions of the Quality Teaching Framework. This relates to one of our strategic projects, QTR rounds, which utilises The Quality Teaching Framework in a practical way. PLAN data can be used in a number of ways. PLAN software allows you to create feedback to parent reports, class analysis reports which provide an analysis of each focus area, Learning Plans which group clusters of students, Individual Student progress reports and School Assessment summaries. The use of PLAN and these reporting features supports the teaching and learning cycle. Teachers from Chatswood Public School use PLAN and its features to inform and differentiate their teaching.
