The artefacts are The Focus on Learning Teacher Survey Report and the TTFM teacher survey. Why: Staff Welfare forms the foundation of successful learning programs at Chatswood Public School. What: School Leadership is focused on supporting teachers through all aspects of their daily practice including establishing learning goals for their students and providing considered and useful feedback about teacher pedagogy. When: School leaders maintain staff welfare by regularly observing teaching and providing guidance and support during stressful times. Teachers also provide each other with mechanisms to support each other and improve their welfare. How: They work together to collaboratively plan learning opportunities and support each other with feedback, sharing of resources and on-going discussion about students' assessment and the learning needs and goals of students. Teachers further support each other by sharing lesson plans and resources and showed a high level of discussion about assessment strategies.

The Significant Impact

The artefact contains the Leadership and Collaboration sections of the Focus on Learning Teacher Survey. It shows school leaders providing support for teachers above the average of the NSW CESE Project. In particular teachers feel supported by leaders in creating safe and orderly environments for their students and feel that school leaders take the time to observe their teaching and help create new learning opportunities for their students as well as supporting them through stressful times. Further analysis of the survey shows that as a collaborative group our teachers support each other in key areas of their classroom practice. The survey shows high levels of talk amongst teachers to improve student engagement and also that they regularly discuss the learning problems of particular students with their colleagues.
