The artefacts are an example of EOI email from an aspiring leader in 2016 and online EOI form for Aspiring Leaders Program in 2017. When: The Aspiring Leaders Program (EOI) at Chatswood Public School began over 5 years ago. Why: It allows teachers wanting to develop leadership skills and to contribute to the school using their expertise to build their capacity to fulfil such roles. How: These roles are frequently filled using an expression of interest to allow all interested staff to apply and be considered for these roles. The Aspiring Leaders Program (EOI) allows all teaching staff the opportunity to apply for this program to shadow the school executive and Assistant Principal Team through an expression of interest. What: Teachers aspiring to move to Assistant Principal positions to develop leadership skills and build their knowledge base in the area of leadership while shadowing and supporting existing Assistant Principals and the school’s leadership team are selected for this program.
The Significant Impact
Along with the Aspiring Leaders Program (EOI) the executive team, through recognising the highly committed and skilled staff at our school, provide opportunities as they arrange for staff to fill relieving leadership roles such as Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal and Principal. Specific staff are given the opportunity to undertake leadership roles that match their expertise. Teachers participating in the Aspiring Leaders Program (EOI) and other leadership opportunities within the school, work beyond their classrooms to contribute to broader school programs. This demonstrates Chatswood Public School’s commitment to improving the professional effectiveness of school staff while using professional expertise to achieve continuing school improvement.
